If you’re the creative type (think: photographer, writer, designer, etc.), you’re probably no stranger to finding inspiration for your clients and/or personal passion projects. Maybe that looks like following cool people doing cool things on Instagram, or pinning unexpected package designs on your Pinterest account. Like to attend local events? Nice! I, myself, love Creative Babes. Maybe doing a round of cartwheels around your cubicle is your thing. I don’t know! You do you.
Me? I’ve been known to do some intricate, albeit strange, rituals to get the creative juices flowing. Take my skincare client, for instance. If I know I have to jam on some social media captions for her, I’ll hop in the shower, slap some of her serums on my face, put my most flattering towel wrap around my head (if you’ve been around during this endeavor of mine, you know this is sarcasm) and get to work! Hey, it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.
However, some rituals aren’t so, um, involved. For example, I recently picked up a best-selling book with the same tone and voice as another client of mine. I simply read a chapter or two before diving in, if time permits.
Speaking of time, let’s talk about that. Because let’s face it: sometimes we just don’t have the time for an elaborate skincare routine or even reading, for that matter.
Which brings me to my next point! Sharing is caring, and in a world full of lovely creative creatures like yourself, it’s always fun to know what the cool kids are up to these days. What are some ways you seek inspiration for your work? Do you go all out or do you stop, drop and roll right before the deadline hits? If the latter, bless you. You’re the real MVP!
